Raising Standards

Learning and Teaching is at the heart of the IMPROVE™ framework. Through careful planning, support and intervention, the appropriate member(s) of an Academy's/School's SLT is supported in ensuring that their staff understand what effective learning, teaching and assessment looks like. This includes:

  • moderating lesson observation feedback through use of Accelerate Achievement and the associated nine point framework
  • analysing lesson observations to identify staff training needs
  • designing and delivering CPD
  • sharing and celebrating what an outstanding lesson looks like
  • focusing on the whole child
  • mentoring/coaching key staff
  • dealing with unsatisfactory teachers/departments/subject areas
  • embedding IMPROVE™ programmes:
    • Leading in Literacy, including the 'Right to Read' programme, the 'Junior Literacy programme' and 'IMPROVE™ heroes'
    • Read to Achieve
    • The IMPROVE™ teacher
    • Students as Leaders
    • Numeracy
